How to repair the hub motor?

No matter how high-quality the machine is, problems will inevitably occur after a long time of use. Sometimes, if you don't have enough time to send the motor to repair, then mastering some repair methods may help you a lot. As the saying goes: One can't make bricks without straw. One thing to note is that before you repair the motor you should first prepare some repair tools:

  1. An impact driver with the necessary screw heads
  2. Gear tractor
  3. Wrench, such as Allen wrench

Once the repair tools are ready, you can start the repair work.

  1. First of all, you need to look at the degree of damage to the motor ring. If the motor ring is a steel or iron ring, and the impact deformation is not too serious, you can continue to use it, but you need to knock with a hammer to prevent the emergence of the deformation of the motor ring leading to a blowout. If the motor coil is made of aluminum and has been deformed, broken, or damaged, please replace the motor immediately.
  2. When disassembling, it is better to spray rust removal on the parts to be disassembled, so that disassembly will be easier. One point to note is that as the screws and nuts are used for a long time, oil and dirt will inevitably appear, making disassembly difficult, which needs to be cleaned before disassembly.
  3. The stator and rotor of the motor are attracted by magnets and are generally separated by perforations.
  4. As the magnets inside the electric car motor are brittle, it is best to use aluminum tools for separation. In addition, because the magnet has s and n poles, please do not touch by mistake during the separation process, so as not to interfere with the magnetic field and cause the motor to work abnormally.
  5. Check the position of the magnetic steel piece before pasting. An s-pole must be adjacent to the n-pole to make sure it is okay before reinforcing it with glue to prevent it from falling off.
  6. The last step is the inspection before installation. The main check is whether the bearings are inflexible in transmission and whether the tires are damaged.

Conclusion

Hub motors have various features such as simple construction, low cost, low torque pulsation, ruggedness, and no position sensors, so they are easier to repair than other motors, but before you repair them, you need to determine whether it needs to be replaced or repaired depending on the extent of its damage.
